7 Foods I Want to Eat in Durham

Just because I’m not in Europe anymore doesn’t mean that I can’t “travel.” I can’t complain about not flying to another country every weekend when there are so many places in my own backyard that I haven’t even explored. One of these places that I hope to explore more is Durham, North Carolina, especially since I’ll be heading to this other point in North Carolina’s Research Triangle next week to see the Lion King (so unbelievably excited). Durham is known for being a foodie city, so here’s a list of some of the various eats I want to try in Durham.

I don’t think there could be a list of top foods in Durham without this near-famous restaurant. Dame’s is #1 in the Triangle when it comes to serving up this classic southern dish.

Since coming back from Spain, I’ve been itching to eat some good tapas again. They serve up all of my favorite classic Spanish tapas like tortilla española, patatas bravas and bocadillos, but they also have some with a North Carolina twist like a BBQ pork bocadillo. Sadly they don’t have the beloved Cruzcampo beer from Sevilla, but they do have a wide variety of wines, sherries and vermouths from all over Spain.

My boss recommended this place to me after someone else had recommended it to her and she fell in love. The trip advisor reviews are great too. People are calling these tacos some of the best around! Not to mention, the restaurant’s atmosphere looks incredible.

In a state full of delicious barbecue, this joint has been named #1 in North Carolina from a list that also names my favorite barbecue in Kansas and Missouri. Although this restaurant looks pretty run down on the outside, everyone claims it’s the best.

Buzzfeed named this coffee shop as one of the top 24 coffee shops in the country! This is another place recommended to me by my boss and coworker. Everyone’s falling in love with this coffee shop’s wonderful food and drinks as well as its cool atmosphere. I mean, I guess you can’t go wrong with some good coffee and chocolate can you?

I was almost done writing this list when my friend Bailey told me about this ice cream parlor, and I had to add it! They have your typical chocolate and vanilla flavors, but have different ones too like root beer and malted cinnamon. Yummmm…
